Welcome to THE 'little' SEWING SHOPPE  online
Keeping Sewing Traditions Alive as a Gift for the Future

August 11, 2010

Yup...our grandson is now 1 month old...and it has flown by...doesn't it always??  He is growing and thriving.  His mom and dad are doing fine too.

I have my car back now...a good thing. Life is continuing in chaos.  I have to spend a few extra days packing and purging my home for us to move/downsize. That is why I am closed Wed and Thurs for the next two weeks.

I will be adding a new page...photos of some of my customers and maybe my own work.  I am always super impressed at the talent I am surrounded with.

SAGA national convention is fast approaching...September 21st to 25th in Norfolk Va.  Yes...the shoppe will be closed.

The summer has been exceptionally hot.  Perfect for peaceful hand stitching, smocking, embroidery.  Now it's time for enjoying the fresh fruits and vegatables growing in our gardens.  Canning, freezing and in general good food...Summer bounty.  Hope you are all enjoying the season.  See you soon.
JULY 12, 2010

My resolutions and promises can be for naught!  But it has been a very involved time the last few months.

WE HAVE A NEW GRANDSON!!   J J  [Joseph Jr.] arrived July 11th at 9:40 am, weighing in at 7 lbs 7 oz, 20 inches long.  We are thrilled. He is sooo cute.  Congratulations to our son Joe and his wonderful wife Danelle.

So as you can guess...life has revolved around JJ's arrival!!

Timing is everyting...and now I am packing up to go off to a four day stitching time with
Lillie McAnge in Blacksburg Virginia.  The shoppe is closed as I have no spare people to help me out.

After Vacation, there will be some new things to work on and fun things to start.  As always...my blog is still the place I post quickly on.  Hope you will check it out!!

APRIL 13, 2010

So...sew...two weeks between notes...not great, but better than before!!  Hope everyone has had a great spring holiday and all should be enjoying our lovely weather!

This morning a posting on a forum I visit often, caused me to post on my blog:
www.littlesewingsnips.blogspot.com about some knit fabric coming out soon.  Help me out by visiting my blog and giving me ideas about what you like to sew with!  Today's knits are not what we [those of us who remember] grew up with in the 60s-70s etc.  Cotton rules...and wow, I really like a number of the prints I posted.

Daffodil Day is this Saturday in Mount Holly...everything yellow or some yellow in it, will be on sale at the shoppe. 20% off most items...some might even be more!!

Check out:
www.creativityforacause.com for information about our village wide event MAY 1, 2010.  Classes and workshops galore. The shoppe is offering a morning class in Silk Ribbon work.  Lily of the Valley is the flower for May, and we are creating a sweet piece for framing, topping a box, pocket accent.
Only one class this event, because I need to be at my dear daughter in law's baby shower in the afternoon!!  The shoppe will be open, I just won't be in charge!! ;-)

Are you stitching?? Visit and be inspired with some new or some old ideas.  See you soon!

MARCH 30,2010

Sadly, I have neglected the website far too long.  So many things get in front of working on the computer. For those who check here frequently, thank you.  I do want to use this as communication tool, but after hours of emails, and other areas, the shop site does fall away to the bottom of the to do list..sorry.

Judith Adams class was wonderful. We had a great time and Judith herself expierenced snow in a whole new light!! [She will not come back in winter...again...I understand]. We had no major problems and I am ever so thankful for that.

Sadly, I have to cancel Gail Doane for July. There are too many personal and other factors contributing to not having a good class.  Hopefully we can reorganize and plan something in the future.

Spring is raining today....really raining...flood warnings and all. But Easter will be here and suppose to be very warm.  Leading us to think of summer and vacations.  My summer will be ever so fun with the pending arrival of our new grand SON!!  I am very excited for this newest family addition, I look forward to baby sighs and kisses.

To all...Happy Easter! Happy Passover! Happy Spring!
